Interior Design for Dummies

Starting a new design project for the first time, can feel overwhelming. Many times  you try a design idea, and well it looks questionable. It looks as though it was not done by you. You see yourself as a capable adult, who is a productive member of this world. Perhaps you have birthed several children, ran a successful company, or have overcame incredible feats in your life…. However, your results may be speaking for you in a negative light. According to the results are in need of help. Perhaps you just need to wrap your mind around a few basic design principles to help. You many need some help in your strategy. Maybe you are not focusing on why you want your room fixed up. You may just want it to look better, or to not be embarrassed when company comes by and sees your moving boxes from 9 months ago.

Focus on designing one area at a time. What do you do in that area. Perhaps you want to focus on your living area for entertaining. How do you want to feel in this space, when it is just you and perhaps your close friends or spouse ? What colors remind you of that feeling ?  Perhaps you want the room to remind you of your favorite jazz club that you go to to celebrate. How many people realistically can you entertain comfortably in your living room ? Decorating for dummies is a great tool to help you ask yourself the right questions to create a space that you will enjoy spending time in.
