Bathroom Interior Design (Part 2)
Refresh the walls in your bathroom. Know what type of style you want to achieve in the bathroom. Pick a wall color that you would like to brighten up your bathroom. When in doubt about what color to choose, choose a relaxing neutral tone. If you feel safe with the color white, see how you can change that. Sample paint chips that are very light in tone. Perhaps a light jade blue, light green, butterscotch yellow, or even taupe. Look for light neutral shades that you can feel comfortable with.If you are going to re wallpaper your bathroom, choose a modern twist on a favorite pattern you like.
Update the tile in your floor. Tiles that are made of outdated shades or patterns will date your home. If your budget is lush you can splurge on the bathroom floor and add perks. Why not install a heated floor ? Perhaps you could install marble tile, stone tile , or glass tile.
If your budget does not allow for you to redo the tile, think about what else you can do to cover the older pattern. You can add several solid colored floor mats. Or you can self install stick on tile. Any do it yourself floor process requires patience and attention to detail. If you are unsure about how to complete any tile work in your bathroom get help. Attend a class at your local home center to learn how. Watch how to dvds, or read books. If at any time you feel that you can not complete the project alone hire a reputable contractor to assist you. Never spend months and months with an unfinished project.
Now that you have have redone your walls, floors, and mirror, you can update your sinks, shower, and toilets. If your house has been purchased in the past five to fifteen years, you may not need to make these changes.
When changing your sinks, showers select one in the style that you love. This style should match your mirror choice. If this room is in a master bathroom consider double sinks. Purchase the best counter tops that you can afford.
When designing your bathroom, always make changes with the future in mind. A well designed bathroom will add value to your home, and help you to sell faster if you must move.
